KingCamp Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad with 3D Side Walls - R Value 7.9

Kingcamp really hit a home run here. I got this to add to my camping regimen, which includes some very pricey mattresses.

For starters, this is the highest end (both in terms of comfort and price) mattress style, in my opinion: a foam filled inflatable air mattress that has foam removed in sections to reduce size and weight when stowed. The term they used for the way the cut out the excess foam made me laugh: great wall style. Anyway, the cutout foam doesn't detract from comfort. It ends up acting alot like an individually pocketed coil mattress for your regular bed. The slits in the foam actually increase comfort. It's a tougher manufacturing process, so this kind are all pretty pricey. Still, Kingcamp does it for what ends up being either on par or somewhat more reasonable than the competition.

The inflator sack is cool but I still use an electric inflator unless I'm out of juice.

TLDR: this is the camping mattress that dreams are made of. Pun intended.

This sleeping pad is so close to being the perfect car camping pad! It is a good size, plenty thick, and amazingly comfortable for a 3-inch pad. While it does have some heft to it, it folds up fairly small so you can at least pack it tight in your vehicle when traveling. As advertised, the fabric is pretty quiet, too, so you won't be keeping yourself or your significant other awake moving around at night. If you have two of these, you can also clip them together for an extra wide bed. The pads also insulate well, so they are comfortable to use when camping in most conditions. So all these good things said, why is it "almost" perfect? Well, the product claims to be self-inflating. I let this sit for ~6 hours and it never really inflated much until I blew into it. When something costs as "premium" as this, I expect the claims made in its description to be accurate. I only took off one star, though, because it *was* still very easy to inflate by blowing it up, but that's still more work than was advertised. Overall, though, I'm very happy with this and will be using it on camping trips in the future!

Awesome sleeping pad! Recently used this for our camping trip and it worked great. Quick and easy to inflate, and super comfortable. Gave us a good night's sleep and woke up rested and refreshed. It's easy to set up and when does can be folded and stored. Much better than our other blow up mattress we were using. Very satisfied and plan to use it a lot.

At first, I didn't understand how this mattress was described as "self-inflating" because when I first opened it and left it to inflate it hardly expanded. So it seems like you need to use the bag to inflate or blow yourself. I have an air pump and it quickly inflated. The material is soft and appears of good quality. It didn't feel like an air mattress and felt like a solid mattress and you can easily deflate a bit if you want it softer. I like how it can easily deflate and store in the bag.

This thing is a very steady beast. When you buy a king bed it’s usually because you it for larger people or those that get more frisky than others or maybe even for two adults and a bunch of dogs. Here’s the thing, no matter what your situation this bed holds up. No lost air. No achy body parts the next day because it deflated and got too soft. It’s amazing.

It sets up quick. And stores even faster.

Highly recommended.

This is shockingly comfortable. It's heavy - way to big and bulky for backpacking - but if you are car camping or just need an inflatable guest mattress in your home, this is soft, squishy, and much more comfortable than your average tall air mattress.

That said, it is also much more expensive.

It did not take too long to inflate, but it is BY NO MEANS self-inflating. I have no idea what they even mean by that and it's why I took a star off. You can use the stuff-sack to catch air and push it into the mat, but it does not self inflate and does take a few minutes of work.

I am a fan of Kingcamp and this sleeping pad fits nicely on top of our Kingcamp camping air bed.

Obviously this can be used as a stand-alone without the camping air bed. It is thick enough when inflated that you can side sleep without your hip touching the ground.

This is a really comfy sleeping pad. It's perfect for car camping. It's easy to inflate and the material is really soft. I love how thick it is - it makes a big difference when you're sleeping on the ground. It kept me warm and I didn't feel any rocks or bumps. It is a little bulky, but that's not a big deal if you're not backpacking. Overall, I'm really happy with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable sleeping pad for camping.

This camping mattress is surprisingly compact for its size and R rating. I have several 4 season mattresses of various types and this one is certainly the most compact of them all. This is very nice, especially when room for camping gear is limited or you have to take it in to a campsite by wagon or something. It is easy to inflate and very comfortable.

I wish I was more certain what the R rating is. The product information at the top says R 9.5. Then on one of the images farther down in the listing it says R 7.1. Then on product reviews it says 7.5 R. I guess it's probably safe to say it's at least R 7 but having a consistent rating throughout the product information, pictures, and details would allow me to compare it to other similar camping pads more easily. I found the inflation bag very clumsy and slow to use and couldn't get it inflated all the way. Luckily a small air pump gets it inflated in less than 5 minutes and is a very easy accessory to add if you don't already have one. Overall it's a very nice and comfortable camping pad.

The sleeping pad is very easy to take with us on camping trips and fits both my husband and I easily. We camped in 20° weather and did not feel the chill from the ground at all, I believe that the R value is accurate. Easily inflates and deflates and packs up fine. Definitely not a backpacking pad. This thing is quite large so keep that in mind.
