ATEPA Ultralight 1-Person Backpacking Tent for Hiking, Bikepacking & Motorcycle Camping

This tent is well priced and easy to set up. I set it up in my backyard as soon as I received it. It helped that it was a windy day. It was a good test. Starting with the positives: lite weight, easy set up, great ventilation, love the 2 doors. I would suggest purchasing a footprint ground cover to go with it. The reason I scored it at 4 is because there are a couple of design flaws. The steaks that come with it are lite but hard to use. I will use different steaks that have a hook. The storage part is useless. It’s a dirt /water catcher. I will push it under the tent and not use it.Another flaw is there is nothing in the middle to hold it down. The wind gets underneath and lifts it. It could use loops to steak down the center too. I will be keeping the tent because of the amazing ventilation and ease of set up.

This backpacking tent is lightweight, and is comfortably sized for one person. It is well made – quality construction and components throughout. It has good seams and is waterproof. It is easy to assemble and disassemble, but the storage bag could be bigger. All in all, it’s a very good basic tent.

Amazing tent, well made, easy to tear down. I wish it could be compacted a bit smaller, but for what you get I think the size is perfectly acceptable!

After months of anticipation due to weather delays, I finally had the chance to take this tent into the field, and it absolutely exceeded expectations. The build quality is exceptional for the price point. It's clear that thoughtful design went into everything, from the durable, smooth zippers to the sturdy aluminum poles and reinforced seams. Setup is quick and intuitive—just what you want when arriving at camp late or in less-than-ideal conditions.

Despite being lightweight, the tent feels solid in wind and held up beautifully in somewhat wet conditions. There's plenty ample space for one person with gear, and it even works for two, though it’s cozier. Ventilation and mesh coverage are great, and I especially appreciate the included guy lines and stakes—no need to make extra purchases. For backpackers, motorcyclists, or anyone needing a compact but capable 3- to 4-season tent, this is a phenomenal choice that punches far above its weight. Just an incredible product all around.

For the price, this is a pretty great deal, but in no way is this a 4-season tent unless you live in central america. You want less mesh and zippered window flaps if you are considering snow camping in a tent, and this tent would let cold air and snow blow right in as it's almost entirely mesh sides.

Let's be honest, this is a clone of the MSR Hubba Hubba in many ways so I'll compare this to that, but keep in mind that this tent is less than 1/3 of the price.
- These poles are metal, which is why this tent is over a pound heavier (MSR uses some non-metal pole material)
- No interior pockets (big bummer)
- No interior tabs for tying up a clothes line, only one in the center of the roof for hanging a lantern
- Bonus tarps that attach inside the vestibule are cool, gives you a clean place for your backpacks. They are a little tricky to install as the 2 look identical but they are actually not.

Some other gripes I had:
- This did NOT come with a ground tarp to put under the tent, which is really important to protect the bottom of the tent. You'll have to find a generic one that is the same size as this tent.
- The bag is really small and it's hard to roll the tent up and fit it back inside. The fabric is SUPER slippery so this is extra challenging.

Negatives aside, this is a pretty good basic tent with lots to like. Zippers feel high quality and it even came with 4 extra guylines on the rain fly for when it's really windy. Plus, the 12 included stakes are also basically clones of the MSR groundhogs, which are some of the best stakes! Even MSR doesn't give you free groundhog stakes, they give you cheap straight ones and make you buy them separate.

I also appreciate that there is only one small brand name on the outside, as it's annoying when knock-off brands that might disappear in a month plaster their word salad name all over an otherwise great product. So as long as you are careful to move rocks, sticks and other pointy things before setting up (or find a ground tarp that fits), and you don't care about internal pockets and hanging points, this tent could serve you well.
