KingCamp 3-Inch Self-Inflating Foam Camping Mat

Valve was very clear and easy to use to open for inflating. Fully filled up in about 10 minutes. I wasn't sure it was fully inflated at first so I left the valve open for a while to confirm. Good size and pretty comfortable to lay on. Won't have a chance to sleep on it overnight until the summer camping season but can update then. Deflating was super simple - just roll up! Fully rolled up, it is a little bigger than a sleeping bag but not too large. Excited to really try it out this summer!

The first night of use (sleeping on the ground) I added a few puffs of air which rendered the mat too hard for me.The following nights I just closed the valve after having it left open the day. Result: very comfortable and good nights of sleep.
Very importanthacjs for first time users:
- after purchase unroll it, open the valve and let the foam expand for up to 12 hrs.
- on site unroll the mat as early as possible
- DO NOT EXPOSE TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT
- open the valve during the day

Why not 5 stars? On the product description it says the valve is placed on the top surface. Which would be optimal. It's not, it is on the corner like every other mat.

Good mattress for my XL cot. Used it for three nights and slept well. I’m a side sleeper and had no issues. Only reasons for four stars are you have to blow a little bit of air into it to get it fully inflated and it’s a little tough to deflate and get back into the bag.

I bought this to put on my cot to make it a little more comfortable...turned out to be a lot more comfortable. It's definitely not for backpacking too big for that but for car camping you are not going to be disappointed. It feels very sturdy and the valve to inflate/deflate works really well.

I got this for short camping trips this summer but I’ve tested it out inside my house and it does not disappoint! It’s easy-ish to fit back into the carrying bag and it can be done with a bit of effort. I do NOT recommend testing this if you have cats because their claws can and will puncture the cover!

I ordered this mattress for camping and one of my favorite things is that is self-inflates without batteries. A foam core helps the mattress expand and fill with air. Basically, all you have to do is just open the valve cover and push the valve in and voila! The mattress, while not comparable to a nice home mattress, is surprisingly comfortable. It’s thicker than other camping mattresses I’ve used and far nicer. Looking into getting a second one.

This mat is great. I love the size. I'm tend to toss and turn. Not once have I touched ground in doing so. Comfortable well made product.

Love it and most of all it's warm, unlike air mattresses which can be very cold to sleep on this isn't impacted by temperature variables and is consistently the same temperature. It's a bit bulkier than the typical self-inflating camping pads but the extra bulk is worth it. to have the foam inside.

This self-inflating mat is nice. It litterly does inflate itself. It is shipped complete flat and rolled up in the carry bag. It has a valve that you open, and it begins to "breathe "in air. It was half inflated in about 20 minutes, and fully inflated in about an hour. You could inflate with an air compressor if you needed it faster. This is way better than laying on the ground. Provides support, and somewhat soft. To deflate, open the valve, and reverse the filter to expel air. Lay on the mat or roll to get the air out. It was somewhat difficult to roll up small enough to get in the bag. This mat is somewhat large, and would take up some room in a backpack, or not fit at all.

This thing really does inflate by itself which is nuts. I showed it to two of my friends that are more into camping than me and they both want to buy one now. I kept it out for a few days and it didn't lose much air, and even if it did it would be super easy to have it inflate itself or just blow it up by mouth.

Growing up, being outdoors camping, fishing, or hunting, was a way of life for me. My dad instilled a love of the outdoors through encouraging me to engage in Scouting activities. Fast forward to being almost 70 years old with multiple age-related problems as well as a few that originated from a car wreck, and one has a definite need for a soft(er) place to lay your head. This mattress is a life saver in that I don't have to sleep on the ground in a tent, in the bed of a pickup truck, or settle for the fabric of a cot. I really like the idea of self-inflating at my age, too. Lastly, it re-packs well into the supplied bag. Once you have the pad rolled up and re-bagged, just strap the bag to the bottom or top or your backpack. At less than 7 pounds, it travels well. Great comfort product for the back country!

I really like this camping mattress. It advertises itself as a self inflating mattress and for the most part it is. After you unroll the mattress, the valve needs to be unscrewed and you will find a rotating plastic piece labeled “deflate” and “inflate”. Rotate the plastic piece to “inflate” and give it about 5-10 minutes for the foam to rise up. It’s not really getting a ton of air inside, but the foam will rise up and fill a large portion of this mattress. At this point it’s not really full, but if you blow some air in, it will get nice and firm. If you are going to just use your lungs, it actually will blow up pretty fast. This is what I was hoping for, not having to bring a battery powered blower with me camping. An electric blower will have this full very quickly. The mattress is quite firm, but what I really liked was being able to deflate it to my desired level of softness. The foam padding inside keeps the mattress comfortable, especially when compared to a similar air mattress. To deflate, simply reverse the valve and push out the air. The mattress deflated and rolled back up very easily. The bag that come with the mattress is roomy and well made. I haven’t tried this out camping yet, but I did put it on the floor in my house to sleep on. It was very comfortable and I slept just fine. I really think this would be nice on top of a cot because of the thin size. One thing to note, the first time I used the mattress I pushed on the foam quite a bit to help it rise up. The second time I inflated it, the foam took shape much faster. Just be patient with it, it won’t magically rise up before your eyes. Overall, this is a great mattress that can be used in a variety of ways. It’s comfortable, and I really like how I can blow it up quickly, even without an air pump. I would definitely recommend this mattress to anyone.

I like camping, but I'm old and I also like comfort. This pad is wide, long, and thick - perfect for putting on top of my XL-sized sleeping cot. What a difference it makes when sleeping on a cot! It is almost like sleeping on my bed at home. I also think it will be great for taking a snooze just as it is.

Thick extremely durable and it's perfect for the rugged outdoors. It roles up easy and inflates almost a easy I wish it came with the air compressor but it's still worth purchasing it's well worth it for anyone camping I highly recommend it

I have long distance backpacked for many years and have slept on many different sleeping pads. The most comfortable pads are the ones with foam inside and also the ability to add air to them, like this one. The foam provides some cushioning so that the pad doesn't have to be completely filled with air, and the air inside makes it a little firmer than a thin foam pad would be by itself.With this KingCamp, I found it is better for me if I squeeze some air out of it. I tried it with a little inflation after it expanded by itself, and it seemed comfortable. But was a little too stiff since I move around a bit while sleeping. If I had used it on a soft, forest floor, it would probably be ok, but I settled for trying it on the floor and then also sleeping on it on top of my bed, since it is a bit cold to be camping right now.I have backpacked in freezing weather before and having a pad like this between your sleeping bag and the tent floor makes a huge difference in how cold it feels. This one is 3 times as thick as what I have slept on in freezing temperatures. I think it'll be very good at insulating against the cold, and most people are not going to be camping in freezing temperatures.The inflation valve has a one way valve that can be turned around to only allow air in or only allow air out. That's a great feature since this takes a lot of breaths to manually inflate. And while trying to compress it down for storage, it is much easier that you can roll it and get lots of air out, then re-roll it again tighter without air getting back in in while you're trying to do that.The one thing that is a little annoying about this pad is how large it is when in the storage bag. I measured about 9 inches in diameter, and it is 30 inches wide, so that is about how long it is rolled up. Definitely a size for car camping or somebody sleeping over. It is fairly thick material so should last a while, but is fairly large. The trade off is it is more comfortable to sleep on, but less portable.

This mattress is really easy to use. It has a traditional valve in one corner that when turned sideways - lets air in and inflates the foam. Once inflated you close the valve and the air can't get out. We actually used this to sleep on the floor of our son's room when he was sick. The floor in his room is cold and hard even with the carpet - this provided warmth and extra cushioning. It's perfect! Also very long - my 6'1" husband can lay on it and his feet just reach the end. After you are finished using, open the valve and roll from the opposite end into a tube. It rolls into a small, compact size, has a great carrying bag with it - and can be easily stored till next time!Also very lightweight - so for trips it's easy to pack and carry.

Inside, since its not camping weather. Least not my idea of camping weather. Its nice idea, letting it expand on its own via internal foam, then closing air filler opening. Seems to work fairly well. You can add more air either by mouth or via pump. Perhaps where available, shop vac with hose on air out port work pretty well. Probably want foot pump designed for air mattress for camping if you need more loft than it natively provides.It can be challenge to get it rolled up and in bag again, but its doable. Think its one of those things that improves with practice.No idea about longevity of course. But seems fairly well made far as these things go. Always compromise on robustness vs weight. Its a reasonable weight.

This is a large mat and is comfortable I'm not disappointed
