It is water proof through heavy Midwestern storms, and is pretty spacious its a good tent
At 3.5 lbs, this tent is too heavy for me to backpack with (my go-to backpacking tent is 1.5 lbs). Other folks may find this tent to be just what the doctor ordered - for a low-cost tent option. While still a small tent, I did like its size - I can comfortably fit in it - length & height (I am 6' 2" tall). The material seems to be of fairly good quality. I REALLY like that this is a self-standing tent (meaning it has a tension pole frame. Correction - it may be better described as a *partially* self-standing tent, as you do need to stake down a few of the guide points in order to get foot-box to be set up correctly - and to get the rainfly & vestibule set up correctly.The one negative thing that I did notice is - the zipper kept getting caught on the adjacent material. But that is something I can live with, as a price-point compromise. I did fail to check the seams - whether they are rain resistant or not (I suspect not, so do a little more research if you think you will be camping in the rain).Overall, I like this tent. I plan to take it to Australia - and leave it there - so I have a tent in Australia to camp with family members that lives there.
Bought the Two-person version. I Will update reveiw after a rain test, but intitial impressions are positive. Tent is very well put together, no hanging threads and the material is as stated (210T and oxford fabric). What surprised me was the floor, its made of Oxford Fabric which is very durable. You normally don't see this on light tents.The vestibules work as advertised but they don't cover the front door fully when raised, so could be an issue later when raining.Colors are very vibrant and bright. Stakes are little on the small side but they hold very well in loose dirt.When I initially opened the bag I found one of the center poles was bent, but its nothing to worry about as its meant to like that.The assembled tent stance is very rigid and not flimsy, which should be good in high-winds. The vents in the rainfly are very nice, they open about 4 inches thanks to a stiff peice of fabric-covered plastic, unlike other tents ive seen where its just a flimsy two-peice design. These vents actually hold themselves open.Additionally im amazed that the rainfly covers the ten body entirely. Ive seen other tents where the rainfly barely covers the bottom of the tent and this causes leaks, but this one covers the whole rant and then some.Again, will update this reveiw after a good storm, but so far so good. Impressed.****UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE****After 5 hours in a Florida Thunderstorm, with a 2mil Painters tarp as a groundsheet, I can confirm thats this tent is very much waterproof and can hold up to heavy rain!! Very impressed! (See last four photos in the sequence)
For the price it's great. We replaced our old backpacking gear decided on this tent. On our last trip we got caught in 2 days/nights of rain and this tent held up great. I'm 6'1 and finding a tent thats light and I can sit up in is difficult. I can pretty much sit up in this one comfortably
